BROOKLYN CENTER MN: — More than 250 law enforcement personnel carried out a large-scale operation Wednesday morning targeting two Brooklyn Center hotels following a yearlong investigation into suspected human trafficking, drug distribution and other criminal activity.
The Brooklyn Center Police Department said investigators executed 30 court-authorized search warrants, including 26 at the Super 8 and Travelodge on James Circle. Four additional warrants were served at two other hotels connected to the investigation.
Police said the Super 8 and Travelodge have generated significant law enforcement activity. Between Jan. 1, 2025, and Aug. 27, 2026, officers responded to approximately 2,275 calls for service at the two properties, resulting in 246 arrests.
During that period, police recorded 53 violent-crime-related calls at the hotels and responded to 104 reported drug overdoses, which accounted for approximately 24% of all reported overdoses in Brooklyn Center.
Investigators said the yearlong investigation included suspected human trafficking, narcotics distribution and illegal firearms. Authorities had also documented nine active commercial-sex advertisements associated with the hotels when search warrant applications were finalized.
Victim advocates and support personnel were on scene Wednesday to assist potential trafficking victims, while Hennepin County Public Health was expected to inspect conditions at the properties.
No closure of either hotel has been announced.
The operation involved numerous local, county, state and federal agencies, including the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, FBI and DEA.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. Arrest totals, evidence recovered and potential criminal charges will be released once that information has been verified.
