Man Killed After Multi-Vehicle Crash Sends Vehicle Into South Minneapolis Building
MINNEAPOLIS: — A man died Wednesday morning after a multi-vehicle crash sent a vehicle into a building in south Minneapolis, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.
Minneapolis police officers and firefighters responded around 9:45 a.m. to the intersection of East Lake Street and 4th Avenue South following a report of a crash involving multiple vehicles and a building.
Preliminary information indicates one vehicle struck a second vehicle before crashing into a building, police said. The second vehicle then struck a third vehicle following the initial collision.
First responders attempted lifesaving measures on the adult male driver of the first vehicle, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The driver of the second vehicle was transported by EMS to Abbott Northwestern Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Police said no other injuries were reported among people in the vehicles or inside the building that was struck.
Minneapolis Police forensic scientists and a traffic investigator processed the crash scene and collected evidence.
Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the crash.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the deceased and is expected to release his identity once it has been confirmed.
