EAGAN & BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - With the April 11 DFL endorsing convention fast approaching, campaign activity across Senate District 52, and specifically within House District 52A, has intensified, as candidates work to connect with the delegates who will determine the party’s endorsement.

Among those efforts, Burnsville resident and Eagan small-business owner Laura Meier has undertaken an extensive in-person outreach campaign. According to information released by her campaign, Meier set a personal goal of visiting every delegate in House District 52A and delivering a handwritten letter at each of their homes ahead of the convention.

House District 52A includes portions of Burnsville and Eagan and is part of Senate District 52, which also includes Mendota and Mendota Heights. Delegates representing these communities were selected during the DFL precinct caucuses held on February 3 and will now gather to participate in the endorsement process.

Convention Process and What’s at Stake

The Senate District 52 DFL Convention is scheduled for April 11, 2026, at Eagan High School. Registration begins at 10 a.m., with the convention starting at 10:30 a.m. Organizers note that the event is typically an all-day process.

During the convention, delegates will:

  • Vote to endorse candidates for the Minnesota House and Senate

  • Elect members to party leadership positions

  • Select delegates and alternates for the Congressional District and State Conventions

  • Vote on resolutions introduced during caucus night

Delegates selected at this level may go on to represent the district at the Congressional District Convention on May 9, 2026, in Burnsville, Minnesota, and the State Convention May 29–31, 2026, in Rochester, Minnesota.

The endorsement itself can be a significant milestone in a campaign, often signaling strong support from party activists and volunteers.

Meier’s Campaign Approach and Priorities

Meier’s campaign has emphasized direct, personal engagement as a central strategy. In addition to door-knocking every delegate, the campaign has organized “House Calls with Laura” events, facilitated one-on-one conversations, and maintained a consistent presence at community gatherings throughout Burnsville and Eagan.

According to the campaign, many of these conversations have centered on issues such as affordability, support for local small businesses, and the desire for accessible and responsive leadership.

In a statement shared with Limitless Media News, Meier described her approach to leadership and community involvement:

“I've spent years showing up to support and advocate for people in Burnsville and Eagan. Whether it's helping someone navigate a problem or working to build something stronger for the community, that's how I lead. I believe in clear vision and real work. As a small business owner, I solve problems every day and build systems that work, and I'm ready to bring that same approach to the MN House.”

She has also indicated that delegates have been actively engaged in discussions about policy, leadership style, and the future direction of the district.

Background and Experience

Meier is an accounting professional and small business owner based in Eagan, while she lives in Burnsville. She currently serves as Chair of the Burnsville Economic Development Commission, a role that involves advising on local economic initiatives, business development, and community growth strategies.

Her campaign has highlighted her business background and community involvement as key components of her candidacy. According to campaign materials, she has been active in local advocacy efforts for several years and has focused on building relationships across the district through consistent, on-the-ground engagement.

In addition to in-person outreach, Meier has published detailed policy proposals and vision statements on her campaign website, outlining priorities related to economic development, government transparency, and community-focused solutions.

Delegate Decision Ahead

As the April 11th convention approaches, candidates in House District 52A continue making their case to delegates, who will ultimately decide which candidate receives the DFL endorsement. With outreach efforts ranging from traditional campaign communication to more personalized approaches like door-to-door visits, the convention is expected to reflect both policy positions and the relationships candidates have built within the district.

The outcome of the convention will help shape the race's trajectory heading into the broader election cycle, as endorsed candidates typically gain greater visibility and organizational support within the party.
