FRIDLEY MN: A 38-year-old man is facing felony charges in Anoka County after a woman was shot in the neck while driving in Fridley on May 9, according to a criminal complaint.
Cordaryle Frank-Allen Frost has been charged with first-degree assault causing great bodily harm and a dangerous weapons charge related to an alleged drive-by shooting toward an occupied vehicle. The complaint also references aiding and abetting allegations.
According to the complaint, officers were dispatched just after 9 p.m. on May 9 to the area of 53rd Avenue Northeast and University Avenue Northeast in Fridley after reports of a woman who had been shot inside a vehicle and a 5-year-old child running around asking for help for their mother. Officers located a Chevrolet Tahoe in the grass near University Avenue and Interstate 694.
The victim reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported to the hospital. Investigators later learned the bullet remained lodged in her neck and that she suffered a spinal cord injury causing impaired motor function, according to the complaint.
The complaint states the victim had been leaving a prom send-off party in Columbia Heights when Frost and a female passenger allegedly began yelling at her to pull over after claiming her vehicle had struck theirs. The victim told investigators Frost allegedly attempted something similar to a pit maneuver before she eventually stopped along University Avenue.
According to the complaint, a woman identified as Cynthia Frost allegedly approached the victim’s vehicle and demanded she “run your shit” while threatening to “beat her ass.” The victim then drove away in an attempt to escape.
Investigators allege Frost and the female passenger got back into their vehicle and pulled alongside the victim before a shot was fired into the victim’s vehicle. The victim reported immediately losing control of her body and vehicle after being struck.
Surveillance video obtained by investigators reportedly showed the victim leaving the party before a man and woman matching the descriptions of Frost and Cynthia Frost entered a Chevrolet Blazer and drove away at a high rate of speed.
Both Frost and Cynthia Frost were taken into custody on May 11, according to the complaint. Prosecutors state Cynthia Frost later gave a statement implicating her husband in the shooting, alleging she heard a loud bang while he was driving and realized he had shot at the victim’s vehicle.
Court records reviewed Thursday indicate Cordaryle Frost has been formally charged, while it does not appear that Cynthia Frost has been charged at this time.
The complaint also states Frost has two prior convictions for being an ineligible person in possession of a firearm.
Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
