Two Injury Crashes Within Minutes Shut Down Portions of 140th Street in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - Emergency crews responded to two separate injury crashes within minutes of each other late Saturday morning in Apple Valley, leading to significant road closures and traffic disruptions along 140th Street West.
Crash #1
The first crash was reported at approximately 11:26 a.m. at the intersection of Pilot Knob Road and 140th Street West. According to initial information, the crash involved two vehicles and included a rollover.
Emergency responders from the Apple Valley Fire Department, Apple Valley Police Department, and Allina Health were dispatched to the scene.
The crash resulted in multiple road closures in the area, including eastbound and westbound traffic on 140th Street at the intersection and on the northbound lanes of Pilot Knob Road from 141st Street West..
While crews were still working at the first scene, a second two-vehicle injury crash was reported around 11:40 a.m. at 140th Street West and Essex Trail, just one intersection east of the initial crash scene, around 0.2 miles away.

The second response brought additional emergency resources to the area, including the Rosemount and Lakeville Fire Departments for mutual aid support alongside Apple Valley responders. Mutual aid units were later canceled at approximately 11:45 a.m.
The second crash also led to additional closures on 140th Street in both directions between Essex Trail and Pilot Knob while emergency crews worked at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding the cause of either crash, how the second collision may have been impacted by traffic conditions related to the first incident, or the extent of any injuries sustained in either crash.
Drivers in the area experienced significant delays as emergency personnel worked to clear both crash scenes and reopen roadways.
The crashes remain under investigation.
