Man Charged After Complaint Says He Became Upset and Damaged $1,300 Store Computer in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS: A 22-year-old man is facing a felony charge in Hennepin County after, according to the criminal complaint, he became upset during a phone repair visit at a Minneapolis business and damaged a store computer valued at approximately $1,300.
According to the complaint, officers with the Minneapolis Police Department responded on May 20, 2026, to a reported theft at a business in the 200 block of West Lake Street in Minneapolis.
The complaint states that Omar Toure, 22, had been at the store seeking repairs for his phone when he became upset with an employee. Prosecutors allege Toure grabbed a computer belonging to the store and attempted to leave without permission.
Before exiting the business, the complaint states Toure threw the computer to the floor, causing it to break. The reporting party told officers the computer’s replacement cost was approximately $1,300.
Toure has been charged with first-degree damage to property, a felony offense under Minnesota law. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
According to the complaint, Toure was in custody at the time charges were filed, and prosecutors requested the case proceed by order of detention.
Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
