MINNEAPOLIS: A Minneapolis man is facing a felony burglary charge after Minneapolis police say he was found inside a fenced commercial property in south Minneapolis during a reported burglary in progress, where the property owner later reported human feces had been left on the concrete floor inside the building, according to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County.

CAMDEN RAY SAWYER, 32, was charged with felony third-degree burglary in connection with the May 21, 2026 incident at a property in the 4400 block of Minnehaha Avenue.

According to the complaint, Minneapolis police officers responded to the property at approximately 4461 Minnehaha Avenue after receiving a report of a burglary in progress. Officers reportedly heard banging noises coming from inside the fenced property and waited for additional squads before climbing over the fence to investigate.

Police allegedly located Sawyer inside a greenhouse area on the property and believed he was defecating inside the building, the complaint states.

Sawyer eventually exited the area after officers gave commands and was taken into custody. A K9 search of the property reportedly did not locate any additional suspects.

Investigators observed a broken window at the business, which the owner told officers was new damage. The complaint states the property was undergoing renovations at the time of the incident.

According to the complaint, officers also located a black backpack and a green sweater between two buildings on the property. Sawyer allegedly claimed ownership of the backpack. Police also recovered a hammer near the broken window.

The greenhouse reportedly contained brewery equipment and oak barrels. The property owner told officers the suspect left human feces on the concrete floor inside the building. The owner also reported that an extension cord had been moved from the top of an oak barrel to the floor near the feces, according to the complaint.

Sawyer remained in custody following the incident, court records show.

Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
