Apple Valley Man Hospitalized After Highway 77 Crash in Eagan

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - An Apple Valley man was transported to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after their pickup truck crossed a median and struck a concrete barrier along Highway 77 in Eagan.
The crash occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m., with reports of a crash on southbound Highway 77 (Cedar Avenue) just south of Cliff Road. Minnesota State Patrol troopers reportedly responded to the single-vehicle crash at approximately 2:24 p.m. Wednesday, September 16th.
According to the State Patrol, a Ram 1500 was traveling on the entrance ramp from Cliff Road to southbound Highway 77 when it crossed the median. The pickup then struck a concrete barrier on the northbound side of the highway before coming to rest on the left shoulder of the northbound lanes (inside the concrete barrier).
Police identified the driver as a 45-year-old male from Apple Valley. He was transported by emergency medical services to M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville for suspected injuries. The extent of those injuries isn’t known.
A bystander who told Limitless Media they stopped to assist at the crash scene said the driver appeared to have experienced a medical incident. Limitless Media has not been able to independently verify the bystander's account, and authorities have not confirmed that a medical incident contributed to the crash. The circumstances leading up to the vehicle leaving the ramp remain unclear based on the information currently available.
No other vehicles were reported involved in the crash. The crash pushed the concrete barrier into the northbound left lane. The left lane was temporarily closed until an MnDOT FIRST truck arrived and pushed the barrier back into place.
