Apple Valley Police Responded to Early-Morning Burglary Attempt at Cedar Brook Market Last Week
APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—Apple Valley police officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at the Cedar Brook Market early Tuesday morning, October 14, 2025 after the store’s owner witnessed a man attempting to break into the business.
According to the Apple Valley Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 1:21 a.m. in the 12000 block of Germane Avenue. The owner contacted authorities after hearing banging sounds outside and spotting a man on surveillance cameras. The suspect was described as a male wearing a black shirt, black pants, black shoes, and purple gloves, carrying a backpack.
Responding officers quickly established a perimeter in the area. One of the first officers on scene made multiple K9 announcements before deploying their K9 to assist in tracking a possible suspect. A drone from the Burnsville Police Department was also brought in to aid in the search. Another officer who arrived on the scene shortly after the first, reported seeing a man matching the description, given to dispatch, stand up from behind a dumpster near the market before running southwest into the nearby woods. Officers ordered the suspect to stop, but he continued fleeing on foot. Despite a coordinated search involving K9 tracking and aerial support, the suspect was not located.
Upon inspecting the business, the owner told officers that the suspect had broken the exterior handle of the south door but was unable to enter the store. Surveillance images of the suspect were provided to police, though no video footage directly captured the attempted break-in. No items were reported stolen, and no injuries occurred during the incident. The suspect remains at large, and investigators have not yet identified the individual involved.
