UPDATE: According to a Minnesota Department of Public Safety Crash Report shared to Limitless Media News by the Apple Valley Police Department, emergency personnel were called to a crash involving a 2021 Ford F-350, driven by a male 19-year-old from Prior Lake, and a bicyclist, a male 53-year-old from Apple Valley, at the intersection of Cedar Avenue and County Road 42 around 6:36 PM, on Sunday, March 22, 2026. At the time of the crash, it was reported to be still daylight, with clear weather and dry pavement.
The police report states that the F-350 was in the right turn lane for eastbound County Road 42 to turn southbound on Cedar Avenue at the traffic signal at a red light. The bicyclist was on the southwest corner of that intersection, and began traveling eastbound across Cedar Avenue against the red stop hand, and did not have the right of way to cross in the crosswalk. That was when the driver of the F-350 began to make the right turn after yielding to westbound County Road 42 traffic turning left onto southbound Cedar Avenue. The F-350 collided with the bicyclist in the far-right lane of southbound Cedar Avenue. The bicyclist was reportedly wearing dark clothing when the crash occurred, and no helmet.
It was reported that the bicyclist sustained severe injuries and was transported via Allina Health ambulance to the hospital. The F-350 sustained minor damage. According to the police report, the driver of the F-350 was not distracted, was not speeding, and no drugs or alcohol were suspected as causes of the crash. The cause of the crash was reported to be the bicyclist's failure to obey traffic signs and signals.

ORIGINAL STORY - APPLE VALLEY, MN: Emergency crews responded Sunday evening to a crash involving a pickup truck and a bicyclist at Cedar Avenue and County Road 42. At approximately 6:36 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2026, Apple Valley Fire, Apple Valley Police, Allina Health EMS, and the Minnesota State Patrol were dispatched for a reported collision. The incident had occurred in the southbound lanes of Cedar Avenue on the southwest side of the intersection.
Due to the severity of the incident and the need for an on-scene investigation, several roadways were temporarily shut down, including the right lane and right-turn lane of eastbound County Road 42, which were closed, and all southbound lanes of Cedar Avenue were shut down at 147th Street West. These closures allowed first responders to treat those involved and secure the scene, while the Minnesota State Patrol conducted a crash reconstruction investigation.
Traffic in the area was significantly impacted during the response, with drivers diverted around the intersection during the evening commute. All roadways were reopened around 7:48 p.m., following the completion of the State Patrol’s on-scene investigation.
At this time, officials have not released details regarding the extent of injuries sustained by the bicyclist. The cause of the crash also remains under investigation. This is a developing situation.
