ANOKA COUNTY MN: A Anoka County Sheriff's Office overdose investigation in Blaine has led to a third-degree murder charge against a Blaine woman accused of supplying fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine to a Blaine man who later died from an overdose, according to an Anoka County District Court criminal complaint.

Michelle Renee Doran was charged with third-degree murder for allegedly directly or indirectly causing the death of another by unlawfully selling, giving away, bartering, delivering, exchanging, distributing, or administering a controlled substance.

According to the complaint, Blaine police responded on Feb. 24, 2026, to a home on Fillmore Street Northeast for a report of a man who was not breathing. Officers found the man dead in a basement bedroom with suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia nearby.

The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office determined the man died from fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine toxicity, according to the complaint.

Investigators later reviewed the man’s cellphone and allegedly found text messages between him and Doran that investigators said were related to drug sales. The complaint states Doran later admitted to selling heroin mixed with fentanyl and methamphetamine to the man and confirmed she delivered drugs to him days before his death.

Authorities also recovered suspected narcotics from the victim’s bedroom that later tested positive for fentanyl, heroin, xylazine, and medetomidine, according to the complaint.

Doran was being held at the Anoka County Jail

Defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
