UPDATED: One Injured, One in Custody Following Burnsville Shooting After Reported Theft From Vehicle

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - One person was injured, and another was taken into custody Saturday afternoon after a reported theft from a vehicle escalated into a physical confrontation and shooting in Burnsville.
According to the Burnsville Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, to the 1000 block of Burnsville Parkway West for a report of a theft from a vehicle that was in progress. Police say the individuals involved left the area following the reported theft. A short distance away, a physical altercation broke out between the parties involved. During the confrontation, one individual sustained a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders transported the victim to Hennepin County Medical Center. Authorities said the injury is considered non-life-threatening.
One person was taken into custody following the incident. As of Saturday evening, investigators had not released information regarding potential charges, the identities of those involved, or what circumstances led to the shooting during the altercation.
The incident prompted a significant response from Burnsville Police and other emergency personnel. Burnsville Parkway near Interstate 35W was temporarily closed while officers secured the scene and conducted their investigation.
