BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - Firefighters in Burnsville were called to two separate incidents Saturday evening, November 8, 2025, including a garage fire at an apartment complex and a vehicle fire that temporarily closed a highway ramp.

Southwind Village Apartment Fire

Around 7:35 PM, Burnsville Fire crews were dispatched to the Southwind Village Apartments in the 15200 block of Greenhaven Drive for a fire alarm activation. Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed an active fire in the garage area of one of the buildings, prompting an immediate upgrade to a structure fire at 7:38 PM. This upgrade brought mutual aid from neighboring departments, including Lakeville Fire, Apple Valley Fire, and Savage Fire, to help battle the blaze and ensure all residents were safe.

Burnsville officials tell us residents were evacuated due to smoke/fumes, but no injuries were reported. Witnesses reported to us that a burnt mattress is present, though officials have not confirmed whether it was the source of the blaze. Burnsville officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Vehicle Fire on I-35W Ramp

Roughly an hour later, at approximately 8:30 PM, Burnsville received a call about a vehicle fire on the southbound ramp from I-35W to westbound County Road 42 in Burnsville. Because Burnsville Fire crews were still engaged at the apartment complex, the Bloomington Fire Department was called in as mutual aid to handle this second fire.

Burnsville Police and the Minnesota State Patrol also responded to assist with traffic control. The ramp was temporarily closed while fire crews extinguished the blaze and towed the vehicle from the scene.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, no injuries were reported, and no one was inside the vehicle at the time of the fire.

Ongoing Investigation

The cause of both fires is currently under investigation. Limitless Media News has reached out to Burnsville city officials for additional details and will update this story as new information becomes available.
