Burnsville Police Arrest Wanted Suspect Tied to Felony Burglary Case out of Indiana

Published: March 12, 2026

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA - A Burnsville man is facing a felony fugitive-from-justice charge in Dakota County after authorities determined he was wanted on an active warrant out of Indiana in connection with a burglary investigation.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court, D’Angelo Jaquan Taylor, 31, with an address in Burnsville, was taken into custody on March 9, 2026, after Burnsville police officers made contact with him in Dakota County.

Arrest on Out-of-State Warrant

Court documents state that Taylor had an active arrest warrant from Lake County, Indiana, issued out of Crown Point. The warrant stems from an alleged burglary case in which Taylor is accused of breaking into a residence. After confirming the warrant, Burnsville police arrested Taylor and transported him to the Dakota County Jail without incident, according to the complaint.

Taylor is now charged in Minnesota with Fugitive from Justice, a felony under Minnesota Statute 629.13. The charge alleges that Taylor fled Indiana after being charged with a crime and was located in Minnesota. Under Minnesota law, a fugitive-from-justice charge does not carry a traditional prison sentence but instead allows the court to hold the defendant for extradition back to the state seeking prosecution. If extradited, Taylor would be returned to Indiana to face the underlying criminal charge.

Indiana Burglary Allegations

According to a Facebook post by Region News Source, a well-known local news agency based in Indiana's Lake County, Taylor was previously listed on the Lake County Sheriff’s Department’s “Most Wanted” list in October. According to information released by the sheriff’s office and reported by Region News Source, Taylor is accused of committing a residential burglary in Gary, Indiana.

Investigators allege Taylor broke into a residence and stole multiple items, including:

  • A handgun

  • A PlayStation 4

  • A PlayStation 5

  • Other personal property

According to Region News Source, court records cited that Taylor later sold both gaming consoles to separate businesses, with investigators determining the items matched those reported stolen during the burglary investigation. Prosecutors in Lake County formally filed a charge on January 2, 2025, accusing Taylor of Burglary of a Dwelling, a Level 4 felony under Indiana law. Level 1 felonies are the most severe, with Level 5 the lowest. If convicted, Taylor could be sentenced to 2-12 years in prison.

With the fugitive-from-justice charge now filed in Dakota County, Taylor will appear before a Minnesota judge to determine the next steps in the extradition process. His next extradition hearing is set for March 20, 2026, at 1 pm.

If Indiana authorities pursue extradition, Minnesota courts can order Taylor returned to Lake County, Indiana, where he would face the burglary charge related to the alleged 2024 break-in. The case remains pending in Dakota County District Court. As with all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
