Woman Found Dead in Burnsville Homicide; Police Say Case Connected to Hopkins Incident

BURNSVILLE: Burnsville police are investigating a homicide after a woman was found dead inside a home Wednesday afternoon, and authorities say the case is believed to be connected to the homicides in Hopkins earlier in the day.
According to the Burnsville Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 12:23 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, to a home in the area of Maple Island Road and Joplin Avenue following a report of a stabbing.
When officers arrived, they located an adult woman who was deceased. Police said the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
Authorities believe the Burnsville homicide is connected to the homicides in Hopkins earlier Wednesday morning.
Officials said there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Burnsville Police Department leaders are expected to join the Hopkins Police Department for a press conference at 4 p.m. Wednesday outside Hopkins City Hall, where authorities plan to provide additional details.
Police said further information will be released as it becomes available and when doing so will not compromise the investigation.
