Cottage Grove Police: Reported Threat to Two Middle Schools Deemed Not Credible

Published: April 7th 2026

COTTAGE GROVE: Cottage Grove Police says a reported threat involving two local middle schools has been investigated and determined to be not credible.

According to authorities, the reported threat involved both Cottage Grove Middle School and Oltman Middle School earlier this week.

Officials said officers investigated the situation and found no credible danger to students or staff. Despite that determination, law enforcement emphasized that all threats are taken seriously.

Out of an abundance of caution, Cottage Grove Police said there will be an increased police presence at both schools throughout the week while the situation continues to be monitored.

Authorities added they will continue working closely with school officials as part of the ongoing response.

No additional information has been released at this time.
