Crash-Prone Lakeville Roundabout to Close Overnight for Additional Safety Improvements
Published: September 16th, 2026.
LAKEVILLE MN: — A Lakeville roundabout that has been the site of numerous crashes will close for two nights as crews make additional safety improvements aimed at helping drivers stay within their lanes.
The roundabout at County Road 50 (Kenwood Trail) and County Road 60 (185th Street) will be closed from 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, until 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21.
A second overnight closure is scheduled from 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The work will include new permanent pavement markings and the installation of "mumble strips" within the roundabout.
The mumble strips are designed to create a gentle vibration when vehicles travel over them without producing the noise associated with traditional rumble strips. The improvements are intended to encourage motorists to remain in their designated lanes while navigating the roundabout.
Motorists traveling through the area during the overnight closures should follow posted detour signs or use alternate routes.
The roundabout is expected to reopen to traffic each morning following the scheduled overnight work.
