UPDATE: Homicide Victim Suffered Multiple Stab Wounds; Suspect Identified in Apple Valley Investigation

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA—Authorities have released new information in the ongoing death/homicide investigation stemming from a deadly incident early Sunday morning, near the intersection of Pennock Avenue and 138th Street.

According to an updated press release from the Apple Valley Police Department, the victim, who was found lying on the sidewalk around 3:12 a.m. on July 6, suffered multiple stab wounds. Despite officers' attempts at lifesaving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. While the victim’s name and official cause of death have not yet been released, authorities say the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will issue those details following an autopsy.

Police have identified Aron Isait Medina Rojas, born February 10, 2005, as a suspect in the case. Investigators believe Medina Rojas may be attempting to flee to Mexico. He is associated with a 2017 gray Chrysler 300, bearing Minnesota license plate JPU 845, although it is unknown if he is still using the vehicle.

Law enforcement has released a photograph of Medina Rojas, along with a stock image of the vehicle, in hopes of gathering information from the public. You can see these images in the gallery above.

“If you see Medina Rojas, do not approach—call 911 immediately,” Apple Valley Police said in the statement. “Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact us at (952) 322-2323.”

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities are still asking residents in the area to review any exterior surveillance footage between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on July 6.
