Two St. Paul Women Charged in Burnsville Dick’s Sporting Goods Theft

BURNSVILLE, MINNESOTA— Two St. Paul women are facing felony theft charges after police say they were caught stealing merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Burnsville.

According to charges filed by the Dakota County Attorney’s Office, Ashati Shanae Bloodsaw, 28, and Keresha Kenee Cannedy, 29, are each accused of stealing more than $500 in merchandise on Sept. 24, 2025. Because both women have prior felony theft convictions, the charges are enhanced to felonies under Minnesota law.

Burnsville police responded to the sporting goods store after loss prevention staff reported that three women had concealed Stanley mugs and Nike clothing in tote bags and left without paying. The suspects ran to a white 2010 Chevrolet Malibu but were stopped by officers in the parking lot.

Inside the car, officers discovered 11 Stanley mugs and men’s Nike apparel in plain view. Store surveillance footage confirmed the theft, and loss prevention staff identified Bloodsaw and Cannedy as two of the suspects.

Both women admitted to stealing merchandise when questioned by police. The store reported a total loss of $547.99.

Criminal Histories

Court filings highlight both defendants’ extensive theft-related records:

  • Bloodsaw has at least 10 misdemeanor-to-felony theft convictions since 2020, including a felony theft conviction in Hennepin County in September 2024.

  • Cannedy has at least five theft convictions since 2016, a felony first-degree aggravated robbery conviction, and three misdemeanor convictions for providing false information.

Bail and Court Conditions

Both women appeared in Dakota County District Court on Sept. 25. The following day, September 26, 2025, bail was formally set as follows:

  • Bloodsaw: $5,000 bail without conditions or $1,000 bail with conditions.

  • Cannedy: $5,000 bail without conditions or $1,000 bail with conditions.

Conditions include no contact with each other, a ban from returning to Dick’s Sporting Goods in Burnsville, remaining law-abiding, and restrictions on leaving Minnesota without written court approval.

Bloodsaw and Cannedy are each charged with one count of felony theft (over $500, prior conviction), a crime that carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and/or a fine of $3,000 to $10,000. Bloodshaw’s next court appearance is set for October 10, 2025, at 1:30 PM, and Cannedy is scheduled to be in court on November 12, 2025, at 9 AM.

Reminder, criminal complaints are only allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
