Suspicious Package Prompts Evacuation at Viking Lakes Residence in Eagan

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - A brief scare unfolded on Sunday afternoon, October 5, 2025, at the Viking Lakes Residence complex after reports of a suspicious package prompted an evacuation and an emergency response from local police agencies.

Just before 1:15 p.m., Eagan Police, Eagan Fire, M Health Medics, and the Minnesota State Patrol were called to Building 720 in the 700 block of Vikings Parkway after someone reported what appeared to be a suspicious package in the building’s parking garage, near the trash room area. During the initial investigation, residents reported they were instructed to shelter in place, and those outside the building were advised to stay clear of the area as emergency crews assessed the situation.

At approximately 2:22 p.m., the St. Paul Bomb Squad arrived on scene to assist in examining the suspicious item. Only a few minutes later, around 2:28 p.m., law enforcement issued an alert instructing all residents of Building 720 to evacuate the premises as a precaution.

By 2:40 p.m., authorities declared the scene safe, issuing an all-clear and allowing residents to return to their homes. The exact nature of the item has not yet been released.
