One Dead, Two Injured in Serious Crash on Highway 149 in Eagan
EAGAN, MINNESOTA— One person is dead and two others were injured — one critically — following a two-vehicle crash late Saturday night, June 14, 2025, at the intersection of Highway 149 and Highway 55 in Eagan.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash occurred around 11:23 PM, when a 2021 Jeep Compass and a 2007 Honda Accord — both traveling southbound on Highway 149 (Dodd Road) — crossed into the northbound lanes just before the intersection with Highway 55. The Jeep struck a traffic light pole on the northeast corner of the intersection, while the Honda continued through the intersection and came to rest in the southeast ditch.

Emergency scanner traffic indicated that two individuals were reported to be in full cardiac arrest at the scene when first responders arrived.
The driver of the Jeep Compass, Reed Robert Schultz, 19, of Savage, was transported to Regions Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His passenger, Finniann Thomas Cronin, 18, of Edina, sustained life-threatening injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Regions Hospital. The extent of their injuries and whether they were wearing seatbelts is presently unknown. The State Patrol reports that alcohol was not a factor for Cronin; it remains undetermined for Schultz.
The driver of the Honda Accord, Jordan John Wieland, 20, of White Bear Lake, was transported to St. John's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was involved in his case. His seat belt usage is also unknown at this time.
Responding agencies included the Eagan Police and Fire departments, with assistance from the Burnsville, Inver Grove Heights, and Mendota Heights police departments, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, M Health EMS, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash, including the potential role of alcohol and speed.
Traffic in the area was temporarily diverted while first responders worked to clear the scene and conduct an investigation. We have reached out to the State Patrol to clarify some details regarding this incident and will provide an update once we receive more information.
