Driver Arrested After Allegedly Fleeing Crash Into Woods in Washington County

MINNEAPOLIS: A driver was arrested on suspicion of impairment after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash and hiding in a wooded area, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash Friday night. When deputies arrived, the driver allegedly left the scene on foot rather than remain at the crash and contact emergency personnel.
A short time later, deputies located the driver lying on the ground in a nearby wooded area, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies reported observing signs that the driver was impaired.
The driver was subsequently arrested and booked into jail. The Sheriff’s Office did not identify the driver or provide additional information about potential charges in its initial statement.
Authorities said no one was injured in the crash, including the driver, other motorists or people living in the surrounding area.
The Sheriff’s Office used the incident to remind the public not to drive after drinking, writing, “Uber is cheaper than bail, and your couch is far more comfortable than a jail cell.”
