Published: May 1, 2026
EAGAN, MINNESOTA - A late-night fire response at a storage facility in Eagan escalated to a second-alarm incident Friday night after smoke was discovered coming from inside the building.
According to emergency radio traffic and on-scene reports, crews with the Eagan Fire Department were initially dispatched at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Friday night, May 1, 2026, to StorageMart, located in the 3100 block of Dodd Road, for a reported commercial fire alarm activation. A caller on scene stated their vehicle had been on fire, but that the flames had already been extinguished.
As the first emergency units were arriving on scene at approximately 10:05 p.m., the call was upgraded to a structure fire after both fire crews and Eagan police officers observed smoke coming from within the building. Additional fire units from Eagan were requested, along with mutual aid from the Inver Grove Heights Fire Department.
By 10:19 p.m., crews reported the fire had been knocked down. Despite that progress, the incident was escalated again to a second-alarm fire at approximately 10:26 p.m., prompting further mutual aid responses from South Metro Fire, Mendota Heights Fire Department, and the Burnsville Fire Department.
The second alarm ensured adequate staffing and resources were available for overhaul operations, ventilation, and checking for potential fire spread within the structure.
As conditions improved, command began releasing mutual aid units around 10:56 p.m. Eagan crews remained on scene for continued operations before they began clearing the incident at approximately 11:30 p.m.
No injuries have been reported at this time. The cause of the initial vehicle fire remains under active investigation.
