DAKOTA/HENNEPIN COUNTIES, MINNESOTA - We are providing an update on another police pursuit out of Dakota County on February 25, 2026, which we had posted about on our Facebook. The Eagan Police Department has confirmed to us that one person was arrested after police pursued a stolen vehicle used in a theft from Dakota County into Bloomington on the evening of Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Authorities say the incident began around 6:45 p.m. when Eagan officers learned of a theft that had reportedly occurred earlier in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Investigators said the vehicle used in the Apple Valley theft was last seen traveling northbound on Cedar Avenue toward Eagan, prompting officers to attempt to locate it.

When an Eagan officer located the vehicle, it was determined to be reported stolen out of Minneapolis, police said.

Pursuit into Bloomington

Police say when they attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit near the Mall of America and IKEA in Bloomington, Minnesota. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed in that area, according to police. Following the crash, two occupants reportedly fled from the vehicle on foot.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the response, including:

  • Apple Valley Police Department

  • Bloomington Police Department

  • Minnesota State Patrol

  • Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office

During the search for the suspects, at least one individual was confirmed to be located and detained by officers, police said.

Suspect Identified, Charges Under Review

According to Eagan Police, the individual taken into custody was identified; however, because the Dakota County Attorney’s Office has not yet formally filed charges, the suspect is not being named in this report at this time. He has since been released from Dakota County Jail while the Dakota County Attorney’s Office is reviewing potential charges that may include:

  • Fleeing a Peace Officer in a Motor Vehicle

  • Driving After Revocation

  • Receiving Stolen Property

  • Reckless Driving

Additional Details

Authorities also noted that the exact location of the initial theft report in Apple Valley, Minnesota, has not yet been confirmed. Police have not released any additional information about the second person who fled the vehicle. Unconfirmed scanner traffic had mentioned that a second individual was detained whom might have been connected to the incident, but again, we have not been able to confirm that.

The investigation remains ongoing.
