Heavy Police Presence in Eagan Neighborhood, Shelter-in-Place Issued

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - According to neighbors, the incident began around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2025, when Eagan Police were called to a residence in the 4000 block of Albany Circle. The situation quickly escalated, bringing in mutual aid from multiple law enforcement agencies, including Inver Grove Heights Police, Burnsville Police, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, and several other neighboring departments.
By late afternoon, South Metro SWAT was also on scene, assisting in managing the ongoing situation. At approximately 5:00 p.m., authorities issued a shelter-in-place alert to residents in the immediate area. As of 7:30 p.m., the scene remained active, with law enforcement maintaining a heavy presence.

The Eagan Police Department has confirmed for us that officers responded to a mental health crisis involving a firearm. SWAT and negotiators were called to the scene, and after several hours, around 9:52 PM Sunday evening, the male suspect exited the home and was transported to a local hospital for help. No one was injured during this incident.
