Published: October 15, 2026

EAGAN, MN: A 22-year-old Shakopee resident could face charges related to driving while impaired and criminal vehicular operation following a serious two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning on Highway 13 in Eagan that sent three people to the hospital.

According to updated information from the Minnesota State Patrol, troopers responded to the crash at about 9:28 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, near the intersection of Highway 13 and Blackhawk Road. Investigators determined that a Toyota Avalon and a Honda CR-V were both traveling northbound on Highway 13 when the Toyota struck the rear of the Honda just north of the Blackhawk Road intersection.

The impact caused the Toyota Avalon to roll several times, according to the State Patrol. The Toyota's driver, identified as 22-year-old Abdimalik Nur of Shakopee, was transported to Regions Hospital in Saint Paul for suspected injuries. Two passengers in the Toyota, a 23-year-old Burnsville resident and a 22-year-old Shakopee resident, were also transported to Regions Hospital for suspected injuries.

The driver of the Honda CR-V, a 36-year-old Eagan resident, was not transported to a hospital, according to the State Patrol.

Driver Could Face DWI and Criminal Vehicular Operation Charges

In its latest update, the Minnesota State Patrol confirmed that Nur could face charges related to driving while impaired (DWI) and criminal vehicular operation, pending the results of blood testing. The State Patrol has not released the test results or provided additional details about the suspected impairment.

As of the latest update, the investigation remains open, and the potential charges have not been confirmed as formally filed.

The State Patrol has not released additional information regarding what investigators believe contributed to the collision beyond the circumstances outlined in its crash report.

Witnesses Previously Reported Erratic Driving Before Crash

As Limitless Media News previously reported Wednesday, witnesses who stopped at the crash scene said they saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and allegedly driving erratically before the collision. Several witnesses told Limitless Media News they had been passed by a vehicle using the right shoulder of Highway 13 shortly before the crash. Limitless Media News gathered those witness accounts directly while reporting from the scene.

Although the State Patrol has now confirmed that the Toyota Avalon rear-ended the Honda CR-V and subsequently rolled over, investigators have not independently confirmed the reported erratic driving or the alleged use of the roadway shoulder.

During Wednesday's response, officials at the scene told Limitless Media News the vehicle that struck the Honda was believed to have been traveling at or near highway speeds. However, the State Patrol has not released an official speed estimate or determined whether speed contributed.

Initial Reports From Scene Differ From Official Crash Report

Wednesday's crash prompted a significant emergency response, with multiple ambulances responding to the scene. Limitless Media News observed three ambulances departing with emergency lights and sirens activated following the collision.

Initial information at the scene suggested three individuals were transported to area hospitals, including the driver of the Honda CR-V. However, the Minnesota State Patrol's official update clarified that the three individuals transported were all occupants of the Toyota Avalon, and the Honda driver was not transported.

Limitless Media News also spoke directly with the Honda driver at the scene, who described being struck while traveling northbound on Highway 13. The driver said he remembered being on Highway 13 northbound before suddenly being hit and subsequently finding his vehicle in the right-turn lane for southbound Highway 13. The driver said he felt alright after the collision, but knew he would be sore the next day.

The State Patrol's latest information provides additional clarification regarding the vehicles involved, the rollover, and the individuals transported for medical treatment.

Highway 13 Closed for Nearly Two Hours

The collision closed northbound Highway 13 at Blackhawk Road while emergency responders assisted those involved, investigated the scene, and worked to clear the roadway.

The highway remained closed for approximately one hour and 45 minutes before reopening shortly after 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.

The closure temporarily disrupted northbound traffic through the area.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

The Minnesota State Patrol confirmed Thursday that the crash remains under investigation. Blood test results are pending as investigators determine whether to pursue criminal charges against Nur. Additional information regarding the extent of the occupants' injuries, potential contributing factors, and the outcome of the investigation has not yet been released.

Limitless Media News will continue following this investigation and provide updates as additional information becomes available from the Minnesota State Patrol and court records.

Editor's Note: This article updates Limitless Media News' original reporting from October 14th with information subsequently provided by the Minnesota State Patrol. Earlier information gathered at the scene indicated that the Honda CR-V driver had been transported to a hospital. The State Patrol's official report clarified that the Honda driver was not transported and that all three hospitalized individuals were occupants of the Toyota Avalon. The potential criminal charges referenced in this article remain pending and should not be interpreted as a determination of guilt.
