Farmington Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Vehicle in Fatal Hit-and-Run Investigation

FARMINGTON MN — The Farmington Police Department is asking for the public's help as investigators continue working to identify the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a juvenile earlier this month.
According to police, investigators now believe the suspect vehicle is a silver or gray 2008 to 2011 Ford Focus similar to the examples shown above. Based on evidence collected at the scene, the vehicle is expected to have front-end and passenger-side damage and will be missing its passenger-side exterior mirror, which investigators recovered at the crash scene.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:44 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, when two juvenile boys were crossing Minnesota Highway 50 at Dushane Parkway, near the McDonald's restaurant in Farmington.
Police said one of the juveniles, who was riding a bicycle, was struck by a westbound vehicle. The child died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver allegedly fled the scene without stopping.
The investigation remains active, and Farmington police said they are committed to identifying the driver and holding them accountable.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, observed a silver or gray 2008 to 2011 Ford Focus with recent front-end or passenger-side damage, or has any information that could assist the investigation to contact the Farmington Police Department at 651-280-6700.
Police emphasized that even information that may seem minor or insignificant could help identify the vehicle or driver.
