Multiple Injuries Reported in Farmington Two-Vehicle Crash at Pilot Knob Road and 190th Street
FARMINGTON, MINNESOTA: We’ve received more information on a serious two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Pilot Knob Road and 190th Street West in Farmington that sent multiple people to area hospitals on the night of Saturday, September 6, 2025, according to police reports from the Farmington Police Department.
Farmington police and fire crews were dispatched around 10:08 p.m. after several 911 callers reported a collision involving a black Chrysler Town & Country minivan and a white Chevrolet sedan. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were left blocking lanes of Pilot Knob Road when first responders arrived.
Investigators say the Chevrolet, driven by a 59-year-old man from Sterling, Illinois, was traveling westbound on 190th Street when it failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection. The vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by the northbound Chrysler minivan, driven by a 45-year-old man from Farmington, Minnesota.
Injuries and Hospitalizations
The driver of the Chevrolet was trapped inside his sedan and complained of severe leg and chest pain, along with difficulty breathing. Fire crews extricated him from the vehicle before Allina paramedics transported him to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he underwent emergency surgery for internal injuries and broken bones. Police later confirmed he was in critical condition following surgery, but stabilized over the following week.
The Chrysler minivan was carrying the driver, his 43-year-old wife, and their two children, ages 11 and 13. Both children reported injuries at the scene. It is reported that the 11-year-old suffered a head injury, and the 13-year-old sustained chest and rib injuries. They were transported to Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, Minnesota, for treatment. The 13-year-old was hospitalized briefly with a bruised lung but was later released. The parents were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
Investigation
Farmington police photographed and documented the scene, while Dick’s Towing removed both vehicles. Because of the severity of injuries to the Chevrolet driver, the Minnesota State Patrol Reconstruction Unit was called in to assist with the crash investigation. However, once the driver was reported to be in stable condition on September 15, 2025, State Patrol investigators discontinued the reconstruction review.
At this time, investigators confirmed alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Police records indicate that all occupants of the Chrysler vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of impact. The Chevrolet driver’s seat belt status was initially uncertain, as he had been found sitting on top of the belt after extrication.
Ongoing Matters
Police closed the case on September 15, 2025, after receiving updates from medical staff and the involved families. Authorities say no citations have been filed at this time
