Fatal Shooting Aboard Metro Transit Green Line Train Under Investigation

MINNEAPOLIS MN- Minneapolis police are investigating a fatal shooting aboard a Metro Transit Green Line light rail train Saturday night.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded around 9 p.m. Oct. 3 to reports of a shooting aboard a train traveling from the Stadium Village station in Minneapolis toward St. Paul.
The train stopped at the Westgate station near University Avenue and Curfew Street, where Metro Transit police officers located an adult who had suffered at least one gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel and St. Paul firefighters attempted lifesaving measures, but the victim died at the scene, according to police.
Police said the suspected shooter reportedly exited the train shortly after the shooting. No arrests have been made.
MPD forensic scientists processed the scene, while homicide investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting. Police have not released additional information about what may have preceded the gunfire.
The case remains under investigation under MPD incident number 26-287335.
