Fridley Man Charged After Alleged Nonconsensual Sexual Contact Outside Fitness Center

FRIDLEY: A Fridley man is facing a gross misdemeanor charge after allegedly engaging in nonconsensual sexual contact with a woman outside a fitness center in Fridley.
According to an Anoka County criminal complaint, Sharmarke Ali Mohammed, 33, of Fridley, has been charged with one count of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct – nonconsensual sexual contact, a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $3,000 fine.
According to the complaint, Fridley police officers responded on July 14, 2026, to a report of criminal sexual conduct at a fitness center in Fridley.
The complaint alleges the victim told officers she had been approached by a man she did not know while walking to her vehicle. She reported noticing the man walking toward her and attempted to avoid him, but he allegedly caught up to her and intentionally touched her in an intimate area without her consent.
According to the complaint, a witness confronted the suspect following the incident, prompting him to leave the area. Officers later located the suspect nearby and took him into custody.
The complaint identifies the suspect as Mohammed.
