Fight Outside Eagan Community Center at Eagan FunFest
EAGAN, MINNESOTA—We wanted to provide a quick update about a fight that occurred during Fourth of July festivities at the Eagan Community Center on Friday night, July 4, 2025, which prompted an emergency response. We had received a few messages about it. The incident occurred around 9:16 p.m., just ahead of the city’s scheduled fireworks display.
According to the Eagan Police Department, officers and Eagan Fire, and MHealth medics were dispatched to the scene after reports of an altercation involving possible juveniles or young adults. Authorities said that one individual had been punched in the head and was briefly unconscious. He was treated by medics on the scene and later released on his own recognizance.
Initial community reports and social media posts mentioned a possible discharge of a firework into the crowd. However, Eagan Police said they were unable to confirm whether any such incident occurred. It is possible that by the time officers and firefighters arrived, they had not observed any misuse of fireworks tied to the altercation. Some witnesses online claimed to have seen or narrowly avoided being hit by a firework. Eagan Police confirmed officers and fire personnel were already at FunFest, so their response was quick. Law enforcement was also using drones to help observe the crowd.
We also want to stress that Eagan Police have confirmed for us that there was no shooting that occurred, countering any rumors that began circulating during the confusion of this incident and online.
Despite the disruption, the city’s fireworks display went on as scheduled. Police confirmed that the incident appeared to be isolated.
