MINNEAPOLIS: Patrol deputies with the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office recovered nearly one-third of a pound of cocaine during a traffic stop in North Minneapolis last week, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said deputies stopped a vehicle after it allegedly ran a stop sign near Oliver Avenue North and Lowry Avenue North.
During the stop, deputies learned the driver’s license had been revoked. Deputies also reportedly observed a tray and scale containing a white powdery substance inside the vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies ultimately recovered multiple baggies containing cocaine, methadone pills and more than $3,000 in cash.
The suspect was taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office said the suspect has multiple prior felony-level convictions from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois, including attempted murder, first-degree burglary, prohibited person in possession of a firearm, and multiple controlled substance and firearm possession convictions.
In a statement, the sheriff’s office said the case highlights the work patrol deputies do daily to keep illegal drugs off the streets and help keep communities safe.
