Hinckley Man Charged With Two Felonies, Including Malicious Punishment of a Child, After Burnsville Incident

BURNSVILLE: A 22-year-old Hinckley man is facing two felony charges in Dakota County, including malicious punishment of a child and domestic assault, following a reported domestic incident at a Burnsville residence.
According to a criminal complaint, Koda James Corbine is charged with felony domestic assault (intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict bodily harm) with prior qualifying domestic violence-related adjudications and felony malicious punishment of a child (prior offense).
According to the probable cause statement, Burnsville police responded to a residence shortly after midnight on July 17, 2026, after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance.
The complaint alleges an adult female household member reported being assaulted during an argument inside the home. Officers documented injuries they believed were consistent with a recent physical assault, according to court records.
The complaint further alleges the incident occurred in the presence of several young children. Court documents also allege one child was subjected to unreasonable force during the disturbance, resulting in minor injuries. According to the complaint, another adult inside the residence witnessed part of the incident and intervened before officers arrived.
When officers attempted to speak with Corbine, the complaint states he declined to provide a detailed account of the incident.
The domestic assault charge alleges Corbine has multiple prior qualifying juvenile adjudications for domestic violence-related offenses, while the malicious punishment of a child charge alleges a prior qualifying conviction or adjudication under Minnesota law.
The allegations contained in the criminal complaint have not been proven in court. Corbine is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
