Body of Juvenile Recovered from Bass Pond in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON MN — Authorities are investigating after the body of a juvenile male was recovered from Bass Pond Saturday afternoon.
According to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 1:23 p.m. on February 14, 2026, on reports of two individuals in the water. At the time, members of the Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol Unit had just cleared the scene of a body recovery from the Mississippi River.
The Bloomington Fire Department rescued an adult male who was clinging to the ice. However, crews were initially unable to locate a juvenile male who had gone underwater.
Water Patrol deputies arrived at approximately 1:45 p.m., deploying an airboat and multiple sonar devices in the search. At around 3:45 p.m., the juvenile was located in roughly eight feet of water.
Crime Scene Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and personnel from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office responded. The Medical Examiner has taken custody of the body and will confirm the juvenile’s identity and determine the official cause and manner of death.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate. Bloomington fire department, Bloomington police, Hennepin county sheriff's department, Minnesota department of natural resources, Allina Health all responded to the scene. No additional information has been released.
