Lakeville Police Investigating Fatal Shooting; No One in Custody

LAKEVILLE, MN: — Lakeville police are investigating after a man who was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound Sunday evening later died at a hospital.
According to a news release from the Lakeville Police Department, officers responded at approximately 6:25 p.m. on September 6, 2026, to a 911 call in the 16200 block of Flagstaff Avenue. When officers arrived, they located an adult man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Initial responding officers provided emergency care along with members of the Lakeville Fire Department and Allina Health EMS.

The man was transported by ground ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center, where police said he later died from his injuries.
Investigators are currently working to determine what led up to the incident and how the man's injuries were inflicted. Police said the investigation remains in its early stages and limited information is currently available. No one is currently in custody in connection with the incident, according to police.
Authorities said there is no information at this time suggesting a threat to the public.
The identity of the man has not been released. Additional information is expected as the investigation continues.
