Train Derailment Reported Near CHS Savage Terminal; No Injuries or Environmental Hazards Reported

SAVAGE, MINNESOTA - Emergency crews responded to a train derailment near the CHS Savage Terminal Sunday evening, with authorities reporting no injuries or environmental hazards associated with the incident.

Just before 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, Savage Fire and Savage Police were dispatched to the area of Highway 13 and Dakota Avenue following reports that a train had derailed near the terminal. Police officers and firefighters arrived at the scene and began investigating the derailment, including checking for possible injuries and determining whether any of the affected rail cars were carrying materials that could pose an environmental hazard.

The cars involved were reported to be empty grain cars, and no spill or environmental hazard was reported. There were also no reported injuries.

Limitless Media News spoke at the scene with an individual who said they were one of two people aboard the train at the time of the incident. The individual confirmed that no one aboard was injured. Savage Fire and Police cleared the scene at approximately 6:10 p.m., roughly 10 minutes after being dispatched.

Initial observations at the scene indicate that two trains were involved in the incident. However, the exact circumstances surrounding the derailment, including how the two trains were involved and what caused the rail cars to leave the tracks, have not yet been confirmed. Additional details about the number of cars that derailed and the extent of any damage were also unavailable Sunday evening.
