Two Brothers Charged With Felony Assault After Man Seriously Injured at Lakeville Truck Stop

LAKEVILLE, MN: Two brothers have each been charged with felony third-degree assault after prosecutors allege they punched and kicked a man at a Lakeville truck stop, leaving him with a fractured leg and ankle injuries that will require surgery.
Muhidin Farah Aden, 39, of Maple Grove, and Nuradiin Farah Aden, 40, of Plymouth, were each charged Thursday, Sept. 17, in Dakota County District Court with one count of third-degree assault causing substantial bodily harm. The charges stem from an incident on Monday, September 15, 2026, at the Mega Stop truck stop off of Kenrick Avenue and 210th Street West in Lakeville.
According to separate criminal complaints filed against the brothers, Lakeville police officers were dispatched to the truck stop for a report of an assault in progress. When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the ground and holding his leg in pain. The victim pointed officers toward two men and reported that they had assaulted him while he was placing a boot on the tire of a truck that had exceeded its allowed parking time, according to the complaints.
Police identified the two men as Muhidin and Nuradiin Aden.
Argument Allegedly Escalated Into Assault
According to the criminal complaints, the victim told investigators that he had placed the boot on the truck when the two brothers approached him and an argument followed. Prosecutors allege Muhidin Aden then struck the victim in the right eye with a closed fist without warning. The complaints allege both brothers subsequently began punching and kicking the victim.
During the assault, the victim fell to the ground and eventually rolled underneath the truck's trailer in an attempt to get away from the two men, according to the complaints. Both defendants declined to provide statements to police regarding the incident, prosecutors said.
Victim Suffered Fractured Leg, Torn Ligaments
The victim was transported to a hospital following the assault. According to the complaints, officers later learned that the victim suffered multiple injuries, including swelling and bruising around his right eye, a lump above his right ear and a laceration to his right ear. More seriously, prosecutors say the victim suffered a fracture to his left leg just below the kneecap. The victim also suffered damage to his left ankle, including torn ligaments that will require surgery, according to the complaints.
Under Minnesota law, third-degree assault involving substantial bodily harm is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.
Bail Set in Both Cases
The Dakota County Attorney's Office requested the same bail and release conditions for both defendants, with interim bail set at $50,000 without conditions or $20,000 with conditions. As of this article, neither brother has posted bail, and both remain in custody at the Dakota County Jail.
If released under the conditional bail amount, Muhidin and Nuradiin Aden are prohibited from contacting the victim and are excluded from the Mega Stop in Lakeville. They also may not leave Minnesota without written court approval. Additional conditions prohibit them from using or possessing firearms, ammunition, explosives, or dangerous weapons and require them to surrender any firearms or weapons. Their gun permits, or any pending gun permit application process, are also subject to suspension.
In requesting the conditions, the Dakota County Attorney's Office characterized the allegations as involving the brothers attacking a stranger without provocation late at night in a dark parking lot and said the requested conditions were appropriate to protect public safety.
The allegations contained in criminal complaints represent the prosecution's version of events and have not been proven in court. Both defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
