EDEN PRAIRIE MN - An 18-year-old St. Louis Park man has been charged with three felonies in connection with a shooting outside Eden Prairie High School during its homecoming football game on October 2, 2026, that left two people injured.

Adam Abdihakeem Adam faces two counts of felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of felony second-degree riot while armed with a dangerous weapon, according to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court.

According to the complaint, Eden Prairie police responded to reports of a shooting during the school's homecoming football game.

Investigators obtained surveillance footage showing a Hyundai Sonata entering a parking lot shortly before the shooting, along with another vehicle. Approximately 10 people were observed fighting near the vehicles.

The complaint alleges that the driver of the Sonata exited the vehicle, got back inside, then exited again before firing at two people and fleeing the scene.

Officers recovered one discharged cartridge casing from the scene.

According to court documents, one victim suffered a gunshot wound that passed through their leg, while the second victim was shot in the foot. Both received medical treatment.

Investigators used surveillance footage, vehicle location data and cellphone records to identify Adam as the suspected shooter.

Police determined that the Sonata was registered to Adam's older brother, who investigators concluded was not present during the shooting.

Surveillance footage showed only one person entering or exiting the Sonata, apparently through the driver's door. Investigators believed that person was both the driver and the shooter.

According to the complaint, location data obtained for the Sonata and Adam's cellphone showed that the two traveled together before, during and after the shooting.

Investigators also examined cellphone location information associated with other potential suspects and ruled out several individuals whose phones did not follow the Sonata's movements.

The complaint further alleges that Adam abandoned his cellphone immediately after the shooting and changed his phone number.

During a subsequent search of Adam's residence, investigators located clothing inside his closet that they say was consistent with clothing worn by the shooter in surveillance footage.

Adam was arrested on October 8 at approximately 3:30 p.m. near Highway 55 and Penn Avenue in Minneapolis, according to an earlier announcement from the Eden Prairie Police Department. Police said he was taken into custody without incident.

Each second-degree assault charge carries a maximum potential sentence of seven years in prison, while the second-degree riot charge carries a maximum potential sentence of five years.

The charges are allegations, and Adam is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
