Man Charged With Felony Assault After Alleged Knife Attack in Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS: A man has been charged with felony second-degree assault after prosecutors allege he cut another person with a knife during an argument in Minneapolis.
Hassan Mohamed Muse, 33, is charged in Hennepin County District Court with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with the Aug. 4 incident.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were called to the 1600 block of 4th Street and found the alleged victim bleeding from an injury to his hand and appearing distressed.
The complaint alleges Muse and the victim had argued over property during the course of the day. During a later argument, Muse allegedly produced a large knife and swung it at the victim.
The victim told officers he attempted to block the knife with his hand and suffered a significant cut. Police obtained a description of Muse and began searching for him, according to the complaint.
Muse was located and taken into custody a short time later.
Second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon is a felony under Minnesota law and carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine. The complaint also references a mandatory minimum sentencing provision.
The allegations contained in the criminal complaint are accusations and have not been proven in court. Muse is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
