RAMSEY COUNTY: A 24-year-old man has been charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle after allegedly leading deputies on a pursuit before crashing a dirt bike into a car in Ramsey County.

According to a criminal complaint, the incident happened around 5:25 p.m. on March 13, 2026, along Highway 96 near Hodgson Road in Shoreview.

A Ramsey County deputy observed a dirt bike traveling at a high rate of speed on the shoulder of the highway. The bike, which did not have a license plate, was carrying two people.

The deputy activated emergency lights to initiate a stop near McMenemy Street in Vadnais Heights. The driver, identified as Cole Anthony Meadows (DOB: 06/29/2001), looked back but did not stop and instead accelerated, driving recklessly through moderate traffic, the complaint states.

The deputy ended the pursuit due to safety concerns but continued following at a distance as other deputies monitored Meadows’ movements.

According to the complaint, Meadows then traveled north on Centerville Road and attempted to pass another vehicle near the entrance to an apartment complex at 4143 Centerville Road. The dirt bike collided with a 2021 Toyota Camry.

Both Meadows and his passenger were thrown from the bike. The crash deployed the Camry’s airbags, and the driver reported possible injuries, including whiplash and hearing issues.

Meadows and his passenger were taken to a hospital for treatment. The complaint states Meadows declined to provide a custodial statement.

Meadows is charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle (Minn. Stat. 609.487.3).

Court records show Meadows has eight prior felony convictions, including three for fleeing police in a motor vehicle, along with convictions for financial transaction card fraud, terroristic threats, theft of a motor vehicle, and violations of domestic abuse no-contact orders.

The complaint also states Meadows was facing multiple pending felony cases at the time of the incident across several counties, including charges related to domestic assault, threats of violence, burglary, receiving stolen property, and possession of a firearm by an ineligible person.
