Missing Swimmer from Hidden Falls Regional Park was Recovered from the Mississippi River

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA: The body of the man who disappeared while reportedly attempting to swim across the Mississippi River near Hidden Falls Regional Park has been recovered.

According to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, the missing swimmer's body was recovered at approximately 12:15 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2026. The man was reported missing Saturday evening, August 1st, after witnesses told authorities they saw him enter the Mississippi River from the Hidden Falls Regional Park boat ramp area and attempt to swim across the river. Witnesses reported the swimmer reached approximately the middle of the river before going underwater and not resurfacing.

The incident prompted a large-scale search involving the Saint Paul Fire Department, Ramsey County Sheriff's Office, and Saint Paul Police Department. Emergency crews searched the river by boat and along the shoreline for approximately two hours Saturday evening before the Saint Paul Fire Department returned to service and the investigation was transitioned to the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office.

On Monday, sheriff's officials confirmed the missing swimmer had been located and recovered from the river near the Watergate Marina, which is about 1.7 miles downstream from where the swimmer was last seen. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office will make a positive identification of the deceased and determine the official cause and manner of death.

No additional information has been released.
