Minneapolis Woman Charged With Felony Theft After Mendota Heights Walgreens Incident

MENDOTA HEIGHTS: A Minneapolis woman has been charged with felony theft after authorities allege she was among four people who stole more than $700 worth of merchandise from a Walgreens in Mendota Heights.
Unique Tenisha Flowers, 24, is charged in Dakota County District Court with theft of more than $500 but not more than $1,000 with a prior qualifying conviction. The charge carries a maximum possible sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, Mendota Heights police were called to the Walgreens on North Plaza Drive on Aug. 6 after receiving a report of a theft.
Police were told four people entered the store, loaded baskets with merchandise and ran out without paying. The value of the merchandise was reported at $764.34.
The complaint alleges the four then left in a black Honda Pilot. Officers located the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 62 and conducted a traffic stop near Interstate 35E.
Flowers, who was driving the vehicle, was identified by officers as one of the four people seen taking merchandise after police reviewed store security footage, according to the complaint. Authorities allege Flowers spontaneously told officers that she had only stolen body wash.
Flowers was arrested.
During an inventory search of the vehicle before it was towed, officers allegedly found a Walgreens shopping basket containing school supplies, along with backpacks, clothing, socks, candles, shampoo and other merchandise with retail tags still attached. Some of the items had Ross tags, according to the complaint.
The complaint states Flowers was previously convicted of felony theft in Anoka County in October 2025. That prior conviction elevates the current alleged theft to a felony under Minnesota law.
The allegations contained in the criminal complaint are accusations, and Flowers is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
