Woman Accused of Biting Officers, Assaulting Man With Pole During Chaska Disturbance

CHASKA: A woman is facing allegations in Carver County after authorities say she assaulted a man with a metal pole, threatened people with a knife and later bit two officers while resisting arrest in Chaska.
According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Crosstown Boulevard at approximately 10:25 p.m. on Aug. 5 after receiving a report of a fight involving a woman with a knife.
When officers arrived, witnesses directed them toward Keajonanna Te Vonne Jones, 37, and a man who was reportedly walking through the parking lot carrying a club. Police ordered the man to drop the club, and he complied, according to the complaint.
Jones was observed with blood on her shirt and approached officers with her hands raised, the complaint alleges. Authorities say she initially refused commands to get on the ground before eventually doing so but then resisted officers' attempts to place her in handcuffs.
During the struggle, Jones allegedly threatened people in the nearby crowd and bit a sergeant on the thigh, causing pain. The complaint alleges she also grabbed at another officer, pinched his legs and kicked toward the sergeant.
After Jones was handcuffed, another officer attempted to search her and she allegedly bit him on the leg. Police say her teeth could be felt through his pants but did not break the skin.
The complaint alleges Jones continued resisting as officers attempted to place her into a squad vehicle. During that struggle, she allegedly bit the same officer on the arm, leaving the area red and wet with saliva. Once inside the squad, Jones allegedly spit through the divider toward the sergeant, with saliva striking the front windshield area.
The confrontation reportedly began before police arrived. According to the probable cause statement, a man told officers that Jones approached him while carrying a red metal pole. He said he initially went inside to get away from her, but when he returned outside, Jones allegedly struck him multiple times with the pole, including in the back of the neck.
The man also told police Jones had a knife and that he believed she was going to stab him. Another witness similarly told officers that Jones approached the group with a pole and a small pointed knife, according to the complaint.
Police later located the broken tip of a knife near a vehicle and found a knife with a broken tip in the parking lot. Officers also recovered a red metal broom handle from a grassy area between the townhomes and parking lot.
The allegations against Jones are contained in a criminal complaint and have not been proven in court. She is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
