Body of Missing Swimmer Recovered from Minnesota River in Chaska, Sheriff Says

CHASKA MN: The body of a missing swimmer was recovered Friday morning from the Minnesota River near the Highway 41 bridge in Chaska, according to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Jason Kamerud said the recovery happened at approximately 10:33 a.m. on May 15.
Authorities said the body was transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for formal identification and an autopsy. The individual’s name is expected to be released after next of kin notifications are completed.
Multiple agencies assisted in the recovery efforts, including the Carver County Sheriff’s Office and Dive Team, Chaska Police Department, Chaska Fire Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
The Carver County Sheriff’s Office and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing to investigate.
Definitive information regarding the cause and manner of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office, authorities are searching for a missing person believed to have last been seen near the river in the area of Highway 41. The individual is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5-foot-7, last seen without a shirt and wearing khaki pants.
The incident began at approximately 4:45 p.m., with multiple fire departments and emergency agencies responding to assist with the water rescue search.
In an update released at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Chaska Police Department said police and fire personnel remained on scene of the water emergency. The department stated the Carver County Sheriff’s Office would serve as the lead investigating agency, noting it is standard procedure when an incident occurs in a body of water.
