Rosemount Woman Charged With Felony Fleeing After Allegedly Driving Away From Traffic Stop

ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA - A Rosemount woman is facing a felony charge after authorities say she drove away from a traffic stop despite being warned not to drive because her license was revoked.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court, 35-year-old Megan Marie Miller has been charged with one count of felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. The incident allegedly occurred shortly after midnight on May 13, 2026. Court documents state that at approximately 12:19 a.m., an officer with the Rosemount Police Department was on patrol when they observed a gray sedan traveling northbound on Akron Avenue from County Road 42. The officer reportedly ran the vehicle’s license plate and discovered the vehicle registration had expired in March 2026.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Miller. During the stop, authorities allegedly learned Miller’s driver’s license was revoked. According to the complaint, the officer instructed Miller that she was not permitted to drive and advised her to have a licensed driver pick up the vehicle. Miller reportedly told the officer that her significant other would walk from the house to drive the vehicle home. A short time later, the same officer allegedly observed Miller driving the vehicle again, this time northbound on Akron Avenue from Connemara Trail.

According to the complaint, the officer activated emergency lights and attempted to stop the vehicle. Authorities allege Miller accelerated away at a high rate of speed through a residential area. Court documents state another vehicle yielded for the squad’s emergency lights, but Miller allegedly drove around that vehicle and continued fleeing. The officer then activated the squad’s siren, but authorities say Miller continued driving. The complaint states the officer was approximately one car length behind Miller during the pursuit before she eventually pulled into the driveway of her residence.

Officers reportedly blocked the driveway and ordered Miller out of the vehicle. Authorities allege she was uncooperative while being taken into custody and yelled at officers during the arrest.

Dakota County prosecutors noted in court filings that the second encounter occurred less than an hour after the original traffic stop and that the pursuit took place in a residential neighborhood before ending at Miller’s home. Prosecutors requested that bail be set at $20,000 without conditions and $15,000 with conditions. The judge ultimately set it at $20,000 without conditions, $2,000 with conditions, or $200 post-cash bail with conditions. Conditions included that she remain law-abiding, not drive without a valid license and insurance, remain in Minnesota without court approval, and appear for future court hearings. Court records show she did post bail and is expected to be released from Dakota County Jail.

A criminal charge is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
