Man dies after early morning shooting in north Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS MN: A man has died following an early morning shooting in north Minneapolis, according to police.

Officers with the Fourth Precinct responded to a report of a shooting shortly after 1:18 a.m. on April 2 near the area of 31st Avenue North and 4th Avenue. A 911 caller reported hearing a single gunshot followed by someone yelling for help.

When officers arrived, they located a man in the street suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Police provided immediate medical aid before the victim was transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died.

The identity of the man has not been released.

Officers secured the scene as Minneapolis Police forensic scientists processed evidence and canvassed the area. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.

No arrests have been announced as of Thursday.

The case remains under investigation.
