OAKDALE MN: Four people, including two police officers, were taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after being exposed to a substance suspected to be fentanyl at an Oakdale hotel.

According to police, officers responded around 4:33 p.m. on March 19, 2026, to the Hampton Inn at 436 Imperial Avenue North after hotel staff reported suspicious activity. Employees told authorities that a group of males had exited a room that was filled with smoke and a strong chemical odor.

Officers detained two men at the scene as they investigated. During the response, two officers and two hotel staff members were exposed to the suspected substance. All four were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Authorities said the officers were treated and later released.

One man, identified as Abdi Seid Musse, 31, of Minneapolis, was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on suspicion of fifth-degree controlled substance possession. A second individual was released at the scene but remains under investigation.

Officials said the hotel remains open and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Oakdale Police credited hotel staff and members of the public for their cooperation, noting that no serious injuries were reported in the incident.
