One Dead, Four Others Injured in Minneapolis Shooting on Nicollet Avenue

MINNEAPOLIS: — One man was killed and four other people were injured in a shooting Sunday evening outside a business in south Minneapolis, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

Police said Fifth Precinct officers responded at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, to reports of a shooting involving multiple victims in the 1800 block of Nicollet Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found four injured men at the scene. A 43-year-old man suffered apparent non-life-threatening injuries, while a 24-year-old man and a 28-year-old man sustained potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. All three were transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare. The 28-year-old man later died at the hospital.

A 36-year-old man with apparent non-life-threatening injuries was transported to North Memorial Health.

Police said a 26-year-old man later arrived at Hennepin Healthcare on his own with an apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

According to preliminary information released by MPD, gunfire erupted outside a business in the 1800 block of Nicollet Avenue, striking the five men.

Officers secured the scene while Minneapolis Police forensic scientists processed evidence. Homicide investigators are now working to determine the sequence of events that led to the shooting.

No arrests have been announced.

Police also said there is no known connection between this shooting and the earlier multiple-victim shooting that occurred in the 2900 block of Hennepin Avenue South.

The incident remains under investigation.
