PRIOR LAKE, MINNESOTA – One of the community’s most beloved grassroots traditions is set to return this fall, as the Pleasant Street Art Walk celebrates its 8th year in downtown Prior Lake.
A Neighborhood Tradition Rooted in Community
The Pleasant Street Art Walk will take place on Saturday, September 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., transforming one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods into a vibrant hub of creativity, culture, and connection.
Founded by local artist Andrea Mullenmeister of ANM Pottery, the event began as a simple idea: bring artists and neighbors together in a meaningful, community-driven way.
In its very first year, artists set up booths in front yards along Pleasant Street, creating an intimate, neighborhood-style art showcase. The overwhelming success of that inaugural event quickly led to its expansion. By the second year, the street was closed to traffic—allowing it to evolve into a full-scale community gathering that continues to grow today.
Celebrating History and Preservation
Pleasant Street is more than just a scenic backdrop; it’s a symbol of resilience and local pride.
As the oldest neighborhood in Prior Lake, the street features homes dating back to 1895, along with rare Sears Catalog homes from the 1920s at the east end of the block. Its historic character was nearly lost in 2011, when a proposal sought to reroute Highway 21 directly through the neighborhood.
Residents organized, advocated, and ultimately succeeded in preserving their homes and history. Today, the Art Walk stands as a celebration of that victory, a reminder of what community action can achieve.
What to Expect This Year
Organizers say this year’s event will feature:
70+ local and regional artists
Live performers and entertainment
Specialty food vendors
A family-friendly atmosphere welcoming all ages
Mullenmeister describes the event as “a grassroots celebration of art, community, and creativity,” emphasizing the welcoming and collaborative spirit that defines the Pleasant Street neighborhood.
Visitors can expect everything from handmade pottery and fine art to jewelry, crafts, and unique local foods, all set within a walkable, historic setting.

Artist Applications Still Open Ahead of June 1 Deadline
Organizers say there’s still time for artists and vendors to get involved in this year’s Pleasant Street Art Walk, but the window is closing soon.
Applications remain open through June 1, 2026, with organizers encouraging creatives of all kinds to apply. The event is seeking a wide range of participants, including artists working in paint, clay, sculpture, glass, fiber, and textiles, as well as musicians, performers, environmental artists, and specialty food vendors.
According to organizers, the goal is to bring together individuals who share a passion for creativity and want to contribute to a vibrant, community-centered event while showcasing and selling high-quality, original work.
Past participants have described the event as having a “small-town, hippy vibe,” with strong community support, effective promotion, and a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere set in a scenic neighborhood.
The art walk is intentionally laid-back and artist-focused, hosted by neighborhood residents and presented by ANM Pottery, M&G Music, and Allyssa Tipton Pottery.
Those selected to participate can expect a number of benefits, including:
A welcoming, community-driven environment
Estimated attendance of 800 to 1,000 visitors
Promotion through local print, radio, social media, and online platforms
Spacious booth areas (approximately 10’ x 12’) with additional storage space
On-site perks like snacks and water delivered during the day
Convenient setup and teardown with close vehicle access
Booth-sitting assistance for breaks
Artists are also invited to take part in the “Pleasant Street After Hours” gathering immediately following the event, a casual celebration featuring live music and a chance to connect with fellow artists and community members.
Organizers say the after-hours event is designed to be a relaxed, fun way to unwind after the day’s festivities, with more details expected to be announced in the coming months.
A Growing Community Staple
What started as a small neighborhood collaboration has grown into a signature fall event for Prior Lake, drawing visitors from across the region while staying true to its grassroots origins.
As the Pleasant Street Art Walk enters its eighth year, it continues to blend art, history, and community into a single-day experience that reflects the heart of the neighborhood it calls home.
