Police Seek Suspect After Woman Assaulted at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove

MAPLE GROVE MN: Maple Grove Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man accused of assaulting a woman Sunday morning at Elm Creek Park Reserve.
According to the Maple Grove Police Department, officers responded at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 30 after a woman called 911 and reported that she had been assaulted inside the park reserve.
The woman told police an unknown man forced her to the ground and placed a shirt over her mouth before fleeing the area on foot.
Police described the suspect as a heavy-set Hispanic man in his 30s who was wearing bright blue shorts and no shirt. Authorities said he may have been carrying a gray shirt at the time of the incident.
Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect, according to police.
The investigation remains active, and additional patrols are being conducted in the area.
Anyone who was near Elm Creek Park Reserve around the time of the incident or who may have information is asked to contact the Maple Grove Police Department through Hennepin County Dispatch by calling 911 or the non-emergency number at 952-258-5321.
Maple Grove police said they were assisted by the Three Rivers Public Safety Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Dayton Police Department, Champlin Police Department and the Hennepin County Crime Lab.
Police are asking park visitors to remain aware of their surroundings, immediately report suspicious activity and consider walking or running with another person when possible.
